Contact Lenses

If you regularly wear glasses, consider switching to contact lenses. Contact lenses are a popular vision correction option that provides an alternative to eyeglasses. These lenses are thin, curved, and made from various materials designed to be placed directly on the eye's surface. A contact lens exam is required before you can use these helpful tools. Contact Sina J. Sabet, MD PC, if you live in Alexandria, VA, and want clear or colored contacts. Here is a synopsis of what you can expect when you make an eye exam appointment with our optometrist.

Eye Health and Medical History

When you come to our office, we will ask you to fill out forms about your current and past health. This information includes any vision problems you are experiencing and the medication you are prescribed. After the consultation, our optometrist knows what treatment to administer to help you with your vision. Be sure to bring your insurance card if you have one available.

Contact Lenses Exam

Our practitioner will test your vision using multiple methods. This exam includes reading letters and numbers from a chart to determine your prescription strength. Your eye health is tested using equipment in our office. These tests are non-invasive and will provide us with information to determine if treatment is necessary. Your eyes are also measured, so the contact lenses you select will fit you perfectly.

Selection of Vision Correction

You are presented with a prescription for eyeglasses and contact lenses. Our staff will assist with selecting visionary correction methods to suit you. We have a selection of eyeglass frames available in-house to choose from. If you need assistance deciding, our staff will make recommendations so your frames match your face shape.

If you opt for clear or colored contacts, you can try on a pair in your prescription strength during your visit. You are given instructions on how to place them in your eyes, take them out, and clean them so they remain in the best possible condition.
