When you visit our eye doctors for low vision therapy, expect to receive an evaluation of your visual abilities, a prescription of low vision devices and training on how to use them. The goal is to maximize your available vision for reading, writing, hobbies and using a computer.

Optos Retinal Exam

Annual eye exams are important to maintain your eye health, but an Optos retinal exam takes this one step further. A special machine produces a detailed image of your eye as unique as your fingerprint. This tells our optometrist how healthy your retina is. Such an exam is an effective method for spotting diseases such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, retinal tears or detachments, which we can then begin treating.

Ortho K "Corneal Reshaping"

Orthokeratology, or Ortho-K, is a process for correcting myopia (nearsightedness) and mild astigmatism. This is done by gently reshaping your corneas with special contact lenses you wear overnight. The goal is to experience clear vision during the day without wearing contact lenses or eyeglasses. Remember, the results are temporary, so you must continue to wear your Ortho-K "Corneal Reshaping" lenses each night (or sometimes every other night) to maintain optimum results.

LASIK

LASIK (Laser-Assisted in Situ Keratomileusis) is a popular type of eye surgery that uses a laser beam to reshape your corneas and restore clear vision. Whether you're nearsighted, farsighted or astigmatic, you may benefit from this procedure. However, it's not right for everyone. Your Fort Worth or Lubbock optometrist will perform a thorough eye exam to determine your eligibility. Certain conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, keratoconus, corneal disease, and certain retinal and optic nerve diseases may disqualify you.
