Dr. Alexandra N. Rawlinson

Dr. Alexandra Rawlinson is a native of Northern California, where she was born and raised in the small town of Danville. After graduating from San Ramon Valley High School, Dr. Rawlinson attended the University of California, Davis where she dedicated the next 5 years as an NCAA Division I student-athlete competing on the Women’s Water Polo team. In addition to athletics, she balanced internships at local optometry offices, volunteered in the community on various projects including preparing meals for the homeless and building affordable housing with Habitat for Humanity while earning her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology.

Dr. Rawlinson attended Western University of Health Sciences, College of Optometry in Southern California. She was awarded Student Fellowship as a first-year student, was elected liaison for the American Academy of Optometry in her third year and was nominated as a member of student government all four years. With a passion for helping others, Dr. Rawlinson participated in vision screenings at elementary schools, churches and the Special Olympics. Dr. Rawlinson completed her externships at the Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, TX and with the VA Healthcare System at Medical Centers located in Orlando, FL, Columbia, SC and Tulsa, OK. During her clinical rotations, she provided eye care for veterans, active duty military and their dependents, specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of ocular disease, routine vision, contact lenses and co-management of laser refractive surgery. Dr. Rawlinson is Board Certified in the state of Texas and is a member of both the Texas and American Optometric Associations.

Dr. Rawlinson loves West Texas, calling it her “dream” to live in Lubbock forever. When patients ask what brought her all the way from beautiful, sunny California to dry, dusty West Texas she simply replies, “the wind blew me.” Dr. Rawlinson and her fiancé Dr. Ben Kasl, a dairy nutritionist, veterinarian, and Texas Tech alumni enjoy spending time with family, friends, and Ford, their Airedale Terrier puppy
