We are proud to serve our community. As a longstanding optometrist group in Maple Ridge with over 60 years serving your eye care needs, we understand the importance of giving back to those who have supported us. Here are some of the initiatives we supported in the last year.
Ridge Meadows Hospital Foundation Gala
Our optometry group has supported the Ridge Meadows Hospital Foundation with donations to their fundraising gala as far back as 2005. We have deep appreciation for the hard-working volunteers, Board of Directors and executive of the Hospital Foundation who work hard year-round to ensure that our healthcare providers have the very best tools. In recognition of their great work and that of the staff and frontline workers at our local hospital in both 2020 and 2021, we donated $1,000 in sponsorship of #loveyourfoundation week to celebrate the efforts of the entire Ridge Meadows Hospital family.
CNIB
The CNIB provides community-based support and knowledge for Canadians who are blind or partially sighted, helping them discover the confidence and skills needed to participate more fully in life. Maple Ridge Eye Care provides annual donations to support CNIB's iniatives, including most recently, a $750 donation to the development of their Career and Employment Program in BC. Public Education & Speaking Engagements
To further increase public education, our optometrists speak to local community groups on various optical health topics. Most recently, Dr. Hurlbert spoke to a local Retirees Association on “Aging and the Eyes.” His presentation covered early detection of eye disease and information on cataracts, glaucoma and macular degeneration. Recently, both Dr. Hurlbert and Dr. Rughani spoke to Kindergarten students at elementary schools on the job of an optometrist and the importance of caring for their eyes and vision safety.
