Maple Ridge Eye Care Encourages Community Involvement in 2015

Here at Maple Ridge Eye Care, we believe in giving back to the community and promoting eye health through regular eye care examinations as well as participating in various community events.

The Importance of Community Involvement by our Optometrist in Maple Ridge

Participating in community activities and events allows our optometrist in Maple Ridge to promote eye health and educate individuals of all ages about various eye diseases. Many eye ailments, including glaucoma, dry eye, macular degeneration and diabetes related eye diseases, can rob an individual of their sight before they even realize they have an eye problem.

We especially want to reach older adults who may have chronic health problems that could affect their vision. This includes adults with diabetes and high blood pressure as these individuals are more at risk for slowly losing their vision.

Maple Ridge 2015 Community Events

  • Ridge Meadows Hospital Foundation Gala – Yearly Event
  • Operation Red Nose – Holiday Safe Driver Program
  • CNIB Vision Health Month – Every May
  • Ridge Meadows Seniors Society – Weekly Health and Wellness Clinics
  • Public Education and Speaking – Various Topics, Dates and Times

We are honored to be able to participate in the many events, fundraisers and functions in Maple Ridge. We have proudly supported the Ridge Meadows Hospital Foundation Gala for the past 10 years. Last year we donated a pair of Maui Jim Sunglasses and donated an additional $2,500 in ticket sales and item purchases.

We donated to the gas supply fund during Operation Red Nose, which provides transportation to individuals during the holidays. We provide an annual donation of $1,000 to help CNIB provide eye care services to individuals that otherwise could not afford eye care and to help prevent vision loss due to treatable eye diseases.

Our eye doctor, Dr. Hurlbert, volunteers at the Ridge Meadows Seniors Society every Tuesday to answer eye related health questions from senior citizens, and our eye doctors and staff participate in various public speaking engagements.
