Scleral Lenses
Scleral lenses are a special type of rigid contact lens that vaults over the entire cornea. The edges of the lens gently rest on the white part of the eye. The comfort of these lenses rivals that of soft contact lenses. Since the center of the scleral lens does not rest on the cornea, it creates a liquid reservoir between your eye and the lens, which helps reduce dry eye discomfort and aids in correcting vision problems from some LASIK surgery complications. The vaulted shape also ensures a good fit, vision and comfort for individuals with severely irregularly shaped corneas.
Corneal Reshaping
Corneal reshaping (also known as Ortho-K) lenses change the shape of the front of your eye while you sleep. These are custom fitted eye molds that gently reshape your cornea while you sleep. In the morning, you remove your corneal reshaping (Ortho-K) lenses. Due to the new surface shape of your eyes, you will enjoy clear vision all day without the need for eyeglasses or contacts. It’s a great alternative to LASIK surgery.
