John Y. Chong, MD is a board-certified ophthalmologist with specialized training in pediatric ophthalmology. Dr. Chong received his undergraduate degree at Houghton College, and went on to serve in the US Marine Corps. After his service, he attended The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Washington, DC and received his Doctor of Medicine degree. He began his post-graduate training with a Transitional Residency at Harbor Hospital in Baltimore, MD, followed by Ophthalmology Residency at Georgetown University Hospital/Washington Hospital Center. After residency, Dr. Chong pursued his interest in the eye care of children and completed a Pediatric Ophthalmology Fellowship at Children’s National Medical Center.
Dr. Chong has volunteered on various medical missions abroad to serve people with limited access to medical eye care. These missions have taken him to various countries of Latin America and remote parts of India.
Dr. Chong lives in Northern Virginia and enjoys running, golf, skiing and backpacking.
