Haresh Ailani, MD is a board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in anterior segment surgery including cornea, cataract and refractive surgery. Dr. Ailani specializes in no stitch refractive cataract surgery and femtosecond laser cataract surgery with standard and advanced technology intraocular lenses. He performs all forms of corneal transplantation including full thickness corneal transplants and partial thickness descemet’s stripping endothelial keratoplasty (DSEK). Dr. Ailani’s surgical expertise also includes anterior segment reconstruction, and laser vision correction with custom LASIK and PRK.
A native of New York City, Dr. Ailani is a graduate of the New York University School of Medicine. After an internship in Internal Medicine at the George Washington University Hospital Center, he completed a residency in Ophthalmology at North Shore Long Island Jewish Health System. Dr. Ailani went on to complete a Fellowship in Cornea, External Disease and Refractive Surgery at the Wills Eye Institute in Philadelphia.
Dr. Ailani participates in resident education as a clinical instructor to the Georgetown University ophthalmology residents where he teaches complex cataract and anterior segment surgery. Dr. Ailani lives with his family in Northern Virginia and enjoys playing sports, traveling, visiting museums and theater.
