Vision Therapy

Though the average person can see 20/20 using glasses or contact lenses, this simply describes how small of letters they can read. There is so much more to vision than seeing clearly, including proper focusing, eye tracking, eye teaming, and visual information processing. If any one of these systems are not working properly, a person can experience blurred vision, headaches, double vision, tired eyes, and/or poor reading comprehension. Since the cause is rooted in the eye-brain connection, eye glasses often do not help. Instead, a program of optometric vision therapy uses the concept of neuro-plasticity to "retrain the brain" to perform more efficiently and alleviate symptoms.

Optometric vision therapy has an incredibly high success rate and many optometrists utilize this to help their patients each day. Fortunately, Southwest Orlando Vision Therapy in Orlando, FL has the resources you need to remedy your vision problems utilizing vision therapy.

What Can You Expect When You Work With Us?

At Southwest Orlando Vision Therapy we recognize that each patient is unique. Dr. Ben Konynenbelt will spend whatever time is necessary with you to ensure your voice is heard and that your specific needs are met. He will then develop an individualized treatment plan for you to maximize your visual potential and improve your quality of life.

Examples Services That We Provide

Here is a list of all the services that we provide for our patients whenever they decide to visit us for treatment.

  • Optometric Vision Therapy -- A custom program of visual activities to improve eye tracking, eye teaming, and functional vision performance. This does not strengthen eye muscles, but rather integrates the sensory input of vision with the motor skills necessary to perform visual tasks.
  • Vision Rehabilitation -- Visual skills may never properly develop, or they may be lost due to concussion, traumatic brain injury (TBI), or acquired brain injury (aBI) such as a stroke. Vision rehabilitation serves to return visual skills that are lost after an injury or to utilize remaining skills to function when irreversible damage has been done.
  • Sports Vision -- Orlando Vision Therapy can provide you various practices that will help you improve your vision whenever it comes time to participate in sports.
  • Performance Eye Wear -- Dr. Ben Konynenbelt will also evaluate you for therapeutic eyeglass lenses that will help align the world with how your brain perceives it. These lenses may include prism and/or a variation of power for viewing near or far objects.
There are other services that Orlando Vision Therapy can provide. However, our focus is on utilizing non-invasive techniques to help restore your vision.
