Dry Eye Treatments

OptiLIGHT

Optilight offers patients a non-invasive and painless treatment option that can provide significant relief from dry eye symptoms. It’s great for patients with Ocular Rosacea, Watery Eyes, and meibomian Gland Loss.

OptiPLUS

OptiPlus utilizes innovative, FDA-cleared dual-frequency Radio Frequency (RF) technology, operating at 1MHz and 4MHz frequencies, to treat dry eye disease. This technology effectively targets different skin layers around the eyes, enhancing blood circulation and collagen production. It is specifically designed to treat the meibomian glands and the evaporative type of dry eye. OptiPlus improves gland function while also tightening the skin around the eyelids. Its effectiveness and safety have been validated by clinical studies, making it a viable option for those seeking non-invasive treatment to rejuvenate and maintain the health of their eye area.

TearCare

The TearCare® System is an innovative treatment for evaporative dry eye disease that utilizes localized heat therapy to improve tear quality and quantity. Designed with a natural blink design, this system offers a custom open-eye experience for patients. Using a smart in-office heating device. TearCare is designed to target the meibomian glands, which are responsible for producing the oil that makes up the outer layer of the tear film. The treatment is non-invasive, painless, and typically takes only 15-20 minutes to complete. TearCare® technology is an ideal treatment option for patients of all ages, including pregnant women. It is particularly useful for patients undergoing Accutane treatment, as it can help to prevent dry eye disease.

Low-level light therapy (LLLT)

Low-level light therapy (LLLT) or photobiomodulation is a technology that is becoming increasingly popular for the treatment of dry eye, as it can reduce pain and inflammation and promote tissue regeneration. Photobiomodulation utilizes various forms of light, including LEDs of different wavelengths, such as red, near-infrared, blue, and sometimes yellow, to elicit beneficial therapeutic outcomes. During LLLT, the initial photon absorption occurs in the mitochondria, which can modulate immune system responses and reduce inflammation. LLLT is currently used to treat various eye conditions, such as MGD, blepharitis, chalazia, and hordeola, with lower power than Optilight.
Although LLLT is an Off-Lable treatment for dry eye, however, studies are very promising and have shown significant improvements in dry eye symptoms and noninvasive tear breakup time. At Pro Eye Care, we often combine Optilight, LLLT, and Gland expression treatments, with great results and positive patient feedback. LLLT is a great treatment for all ages and skin tones.
