Vincent R. Vicci Jr. O.D.: 1981 doctoral graduate of Pennsylvania College of Optometry; private practice in Westfield, N.J.; has worked extensively in the area of visual problems associated with learning disabilities, traumatic brain injury, stroke and neurologically challenged individuals; staff consultant and co-founder - Vision Clinics: Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation – Chester, N.J., Saddle Brook, N.J., West Orange, N.J.; former staff consultant: Vestibular and Balance Clinic - Holy Name Hospital (Teaneck, N.J.); former staff consultant: Extended Recovery Unit of the Robert Wood Johnson Jr. Rehabilitation Institute - John F. Kennedy Hospital, (Edison, N.J.). Dr. Vicci also has provided consultations to the Center for Auditory Processing & Cognitive Disorders - Newark Beth Israel Medical Center (Newark, N.J.), Brain Injury Unit and Outpatient Services - Children's Specialized Hospital (Mountainside and Fanwood, N.J.), Matheny School – Peapack, N.J. (for severely brain injured) and various rehabilitation programs, insurance companies and independent hospitals in the N.J., N.Y., Penna. Area. Dr. Vicci is an annual guest lecturer for Seton Hall University Graduate Medical Education (1999-present) and Kean University Graduate Program in Occupational Therapy (2010 – present). Dr Vicci has been accepted as an expert in the field of Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation in all northern New Jersey county courts as well as out of state appointments. He is the 2000 recipient of Excellence in Education Award – Cranford High School, Cranford, N.J. 1997 recipient of "Advancement of Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation" Award in San Diego, California; 1991 recipient of N.J.Optometric Association Scientific Award for work in the area of traumatic brain injury. 1985-92 OEPF N.J. State Director; 1992-94 Eastern States Regional Director; 1990-93 Secretary: Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association, 1993-98 President: Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association; Current Advisory Board / Council Member of the Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association, Int.. He has collaborated with neuro-otology to present Visual-Vestibular Integration Dysfunction to the Australian Academy of Otology – April 2005. He was honored as a distinguished practitioner and was inducted into the National Academy of Practitioners (NAP) in August of 2006. Dr. Vicci is currently a primary investigator in several research initiatives in collaboration with the New Jersey Institute for Technology and the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey that are evaluating the effects of therapeutic procedures upon the human brain through fMRI studies. In April of 2013, Dr. Vicci was conferred as a Fellow in Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation at the NORA 23 rdAnnual Conference in San Diego, California.
