Advisory Board Member, Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association

Shannon McGuire , BHSc (PT) is an Advisory Member to the Board of the Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association (NORA), an inter-disciplinary group of professionals dedicated to providing patients who have physical or cognitive disabilities as a result of an acquired brain injury with a complete ocular health evaluation and optimum visual rehabilitation education and services to improve their quality of life.

Shannon has been working as a physiotherapist since graduating from McMaster University in 1996 and has spent much of her career working in rehabilitation with clients with neurological injuries including acquired brain injury and spinal cord injury. She currently works at St. Joseph’s Health Care London –Parkwood Institute (London, Ontario) on the Outpatient Acquired Brain Injury Team.

Shannon became interested in Vision Rehabilitation in 2007 after attending a Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Course led by William Padula OD, Founding President of NORA. In collaboration with Dr. Cheryl Letheren, she established the first inpatient and outpatient Neuro-Optometric Rehab Service in Canada.

Shannon is also a Clinical Lecturer at University of Western Ontario’s School of Physical Therapy. She has lectured internationally, teaching health professionals about managing individuals with persistent symptoms after concussion.
