Medical Eye Care Services

Eye care services include more than simple eye exams. If you have a chronic eye condition, such as glaucoma or dry eyes, you need regular monitoring from an optometrist or ophthalmologist. Our eyecare specialists are all board certified in their respective fields of expertise, enabling them to diagnose and treat medical conditions of the eyes.

At Sylvester Eye Care we have two locations serving Oklahoma City, with professionals who can give you exams and eye care for a variety of conditions.

Eye Exam

Everyone should get routine eye exams. Comprehensive eye exams look at your eyes to measure visual acuity and health conditions. If you have problems such as glaucoma or corneal disorders, an optometrist or ophthalmologist can identify them during a regular exam.

Diabetic Eye Care and Exams

If you have diabetes, understand how much the condition can impact your vision. You will need to schedule regular diabetic eye exams so an ophthalmologist or optometrist can track your eye health and vision changes. For instance, diabetes increases the chances of glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy. Without care, you could lose your vision to one of these complications. Regular eye exams can prevent vision loss.

Corneal Disorders

The cornea focuses light into your eye. However, damage to the cornea can affect its performance. Dry eyes, scarring, and inflammation could harm your ability to see well. If you have corneal disorders such as these or others, you need treatment from an eye doctor to get relief of the discomfort and pain while improving your eyesight.

Dry Eye

Several problems can cause dry eye. Some people require intensive treatments to correct the problem. Do not rely on temporary relief from artificial tears. Schedule a visit with us to get treatment for dry eye that focuses on correcting the root of the problem.

Glaucoma

High pressure inside the eye can damage the optic nerve, causing irreversible vision loss and blindness. However, with early intervention, you can avoid these problems.

While age plays a role in developing this disease, some people can develop it earlier. If you have risk factors such as a family history of glaucoma, diabetes, or have high eye pressure, you need regular eye exams that track your eye health and pressure. At Sylvester Eye Care, you can get glaucoma care and treatment.

Macular Degeneration

Macular degeneration can also occur as you age. This condition can impact your central vision. To avoid the changes caused by macular degeneration you need annual eye exams after age 50. These exams ensure that you have the correct eyewear and slow down the progression of the condition.
