Eye & Vision Exams

At Family Eyecare of Glendale, we strive to provide comprehensive, primary eye care for the entire family. We recommend a child have a comprehensive eye examination before starting school (between the ages of 3 to 5) with our pediatric specialist. We recommend that school age children (between the ages of 6-17) have an annual examination. Great vision, visual function, and eye health are essential to ensuring that our children start school with their best learning potential. As children grow, so do their eyes. It is important for parents to understand that children do not know the difference between good and poor vision, so we cannot rely on them to tell us their vision is blurry. That is why it is important that children have a comprehensive eye examination before they start school.

Preventative and routine eye examinations are important to maintaining good eye health. Often, eye and vision problems do not have obvious signs or symptoms. This is why we offer delivering state-of-the art technology when providing eye care. By diagnosing eye and vision problems early on, our Doctors are able to provide treatment options and in many cases restore vision and prevent vision loss.

Eye exams typically involve these steps:

A detailed medical history to gain an overall understanding of how your health may relate to                                                                               your eyes.

A visual acuity test (refraction) to see if your vision would benefit from glasses or contact                                                                                   lenses.

An assessment of the binocular vision and focusing of your eyes.

                                                                         A thorough ocular health assessment.

We take pride in helping you look, see, and feel your best!

The American Optometric Association recommends yearly or bi-yearly eye and vision exams,                                                                             depending on whether you have risk factors.
