Symptoms of Digital Eye Strain

Digital eye strain can lead to a variety of symptoms, such as blurry vision, reduced blink rate, eye strain, and headaches. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, it’s important to seek treatment as soon as possible to prevent further complications.

How to Prevent Digital Eye Strain

There are some steps you can take in order to prevent digital eye strain. Our optometrists recommend the following:

•           Keep a proper distance from the screen: Make sure your screen at arm’s length to avoid uncomfortable symptoms.

•           Practice good posture: While it may not affect your eyes, it is important to practice good posture to prevent neck pain and back pain.

•           Use the 20-20-20 rule: Take your eyes off the screen and look at an object roughly 20 feet away for a minimum of 20 seconds every 20 minutes.

•           Adjust your lighting: Avoid dark rooms and make sure that your environment has adequate lighting.

•           Take frequent breaks: In addition to the 20-20-20 rule, take frequent breaks from the screen to allow your eyes to rest.

The Importance of Eye Exams

Regular eye exams can help our eye doctors check for digital eye strain symptoms. They also allow us to detect any vision changes, conditions, and provide prompt treatment. In addition, we can recommend blue light blocking glasses as well that protect your eyes from blue light and reduce eye strain.
