Application and Removal of Contact Lenses
Contact Lens Fitting & Evaluation
We welcome questions regarding contact lenses from our patients, however, once we begin to evaluate a patient for the wearing of contact lenses, the fees for fitting and evaluation apply.
The contact lens fitting and evaluation fees are an additional charge and are not part of the routine examination.
The contact lens prescription will not be final until the doctor finalizes it, which is typically done at the one week follow-up unless a new correction is indicated at that visit. The office policy is to have our patients return for, minimally, a one week follow-up.
A contact lens prescription is valid for one year from the initial visit.
Trial Contact Lenses
In the fitting and evaluation process, we provide trial contact lenses. The necessary prescription may not be in our stock fitting lenses and have to be specially ordered for the fitting to proceed. The time for those lenses to come into the office varies but typically takes less than a week.
Once the trial lenses have come in, the patient is notified and must schedule a follow-up visit where the lenses will be inserted and evaluated by the contact lens technician and the doctor.
Additional trial contact lenses may be available while the boxes of contact lenses are ordered, but we cannot guarantee that we will have them. We cannot guarantee that we will have trials available should you run out of contact lenses during the year and suggest that be aware when you are running low on contacts.
Boxes of Contact Lenses
You may order boxes of contact lenses once your contact lens prescription has been finalized. The number of boxes will vary according to the type of contact lenses and wearing schedule. You may purchase enough contact lenses for a year of wear. You cannot purchase additional boxes which will take you past the expiration date of your prescription.
Purchased contact lenses are not returnable and are non-refundable.
Should your prescription change, only unopened and unmarked boxes of contact lenses might be exchanged and only if that particular manufacturer will exchange them. Even with a prescription change, opened boxes of contact lenses will not be returnable.
Defective contact lenses may be replaced by the manufacturer under certain conditions. Please contact the office if you have a problem with a particular box of contacts and we will make every effort to correct the situation for you.
