Contact Lens Fittings

If you want help to correct your vision through contact lenses, you'll first need to contact an eye doctor for help. An optometrist will conduct a contact lens exam to take a deeper look at the inner workings of your eye, give you the best prescription to correct your vision, and recommend contact lenses that suit you. At Lavenburg Medical Group, we have provided residents of Newark, DE, and Elkton, MD, with contact lens fitting services for many years.

Do I Need a Contact Lens Exam?

If you're planning on using contact lenses to correct your vision, it's important to know that one size does not fit all. You'll need to schedule a contact lens exam with our eye doctor so we can understand your specific needs, get you paired with the best contact lenses to fit your eye, and help you improve your eyesight using a custom prescription. Just like with eyeglasses, you'll need to have a prescription on hand to purchase contact lenses that correct your vision.

How Else Can an Optometrist Help Me?

Our optometrist will get you the prescription you need to get your contact lenses properly fitted, as well as examine your eyes for any eye diseases that might prevent you from wearing contact lenses comfortably. Some of these eye diseases include keratoconus, dry eye syndrome, presbyopia, and farsightedness caused by aging just to name a few. If you have any of these conditions, we will give you options for other prescription contact lenses, such as gas permeable lenses or multi-focal lenses. They will then conduct follow-up visits and update your prescription and contact lens fittings so you can always see clearly.
