After a comprehensive eye exam, our doctors will discuss the variety of contact lens options with you to select best fit your vision needs and lifestyle.

If you suffer from dry eye, allergies, or recurring eye infections, speak with our staff and doctor to determine whether contact lenses are right for you.

A contact lens is a medical device that sits on a very sensitive part of human tissue, called the cornea. When the contact lenses does not fit properly, this can result in various ocular complications which can lead to blindness.

During a contact lenses fitting, our doctor will determine 3 main parameters.

  1. Base Curve: this ensures the contact lens’ shape fits the curve of the front surface of your eye
  2. Power: most of the time, the power of a contact lens differs from the glasses prescription
  3. Material/brand: the material must be the most comfortable, moist, and breathable for your eyes

At Eastgate Eye Clinic, we provide single vision, toric, monovision, multifocal, and rigid gas permeable contact lenses.

Single vision and toric lenses correct for nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. Multifocals and monovision contacts correct vision at near for those who also experience blurry vision when reading. Rigid gas permeable contact lenses are hard lenses which are required for certain prescriptions and eye conditions (eg. Keratoconous).

Advances in contact lens technology have created great options for custom fit for extremely high prescription or irregular front surface of eye that are not typically fitting with regular soft lenses.  Custom contact lenses are design to fit specific individuals.  It is done with more detail assessment of your front and back curvature of the eye using Medmont Topography.
