Explore Your Contact Lens Options at Mi Vision Eye Care

Contact lenses are an excellent vision correction choice for anyone who may not want to wear eyeglasses full time or doesn’t want to undergo LASIK surgery. For many patients, the first thing to consider when choosing contacts is which type of lens material will best meet your specific vision needs. Our patients can choose from a variety of materials including:

  • Soft Lenses – These are the most popular and often considered the most comfortable contacts available on the market today. Made from a gel-like hydrogel plastic, these lenses are very thin and pliable.
  • Rigid Lenses – Also called GP or RGP lenses, these rigid contact lenses are more comfortable than traditional hard contact lenses because they are more porous and allow for better oxygen flow.
  • Toric Lenses – These soft lenses are great for patients who suffer from astigmatism and are commonly made from either a conventional hydrogel material or breathable silicone hydrogel.
  • Color Lenses – This is a fun and fashionable contact lens option. With color contacts, you can correct your vision and change your eye color at the same time.

Different Types of Contact Lenses

Daily Wear Contacts

These are the most common type of contacts worn today. Daily wear lenses can be worn every day, for up to 18 hours. Simply remove and clean each night to be stored until their ready for use the next day.

Daily Disposable Contacts

Daily disposable contact lenses are the most convenient vision correction option for many patients. Wear them for a day and throw them away at night. Perfect for busy people who don’t have the time to clean and care for their contact each day, this healthy contact lens option is also great for patients who have allergies.

Extended Wear Contacts

With the help of breathable and porous hydrogels, extended wear contacts allow patients to take advantage of extended wear lenses. Because these lenses allow for more oxygen flow to the eyes, they can be worn up to 30 days straight. But even with this type of lens, it is best to check with our doctors before wearing extended wear lenses overnight.

Gas-Permeable Lenses

These lenses are perfect for patients who suffer from astigmatism, nearsightedness, farsightedness, etc. Other contact options for those with special vision needs include hybrid contact lenses, color lenses, and Scleral lenses.

Contact Lens Evaluation

Before prescribing contact lenses, our doctors will work to determine that level of vision correction you require. During your evaluation, our doctors will measure how your eyes focus when a series of different lenses are placed in front of them.

After determining the level of refractive error with these different lenses, our Dr. Cuba, and his team will determine whether eyeglasses or contact lenses are a better vision correction option for your lifestyle.
