Why TCM

TCM stands for Traditional Chinese Medicine. TCM, or Oriental Medicine, is more than 2000 year old. It is a comprehensive healthcare system, based on the body’s natural ability to heal itself.

This system takes into account the presence of a vital force in our body known as “Qi” (pronounced “chee”). The Chinese believed that Qi originates from our internal organs and is dispersed throughout our body in channels called meridians. These channels have points along them (the acupuncture points) that when needled would help in regulating the flow of the Qi. The basic premise is that so long as the Qi is flowing harmoniously along the meridians, our body will be able to overcome disease on its own.

In Chinese Medicine we use the following modality to reinstate the harmonious flow of Qi:

  • Acupuncture
  • Herbal Medicine
  • Nutrition and eating habits
  • Massage, exercise and meditation
  • Change of lifestyle
