Laser Vision Correction

We offer three laser vision correction surgeries: photorefractive keratectomy, laser epithelial keratomileusis and laser-assisted in-situ keratomileuses. Photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) is a procedure that corrects refractive errors such as astigmatism, nearsightedness and farsightedness. PRK reshapes your cornea using a cool pulsing beam of ultraviolet light on the outside of the cornea. Laser epithelial keratomileusis (LASEK) is a laser surgery that corrects nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. It reshapes the cornea but leaves a thin flap of the epithelium. LASIK is another laser procedure used to correct refractive errors, and during this procedure, the surgeon creates a flap.

Refractive Lens Exchange

Refractive lens exchange (RLE) is a surgical procedure conducted on patients who have presbyopia, a condition that causes farsightedness after the age of 40. The surgery is designed to decrease a person's dependence upon glasses or contacts. The procedure is identical to cataract surgery. During refractive lens exchange, the lens is removed and replaced with a silicone or acrylic one.

Implantable Contact Lenses (ICLs)

Implantable contact lenses are an option for people who are nearsighted and have a prescription that laser procedures aren't able to correct. It's also beneficial for those who don't have enough corneal tissue to undergo a laser eye surgery like LASIK. This procedure doesn't remove the lens; instead, an eye surgeon will conduct a small laser eye surgery, one with only one or two small incisions near the iris to help manage pressure. To actually implant the contacts, the eye surgeon will make a tiny incision in the side of the cornea. The doctor will implant the contact in between the iris and the natural lens of the eye.

Corneal Collagen Cross-Linking (CXL)

Corneal collagen cross-linking (CXL) utilizes UVA light and riboflavin eye drops to stiffen corneas that have been weakened as a result of a refractive surgery or disease. It's commonly used around the world to treat corneal ectasia and keratoconus.

Initial Evaluation and Follow-up Exam

We conduct both the initial evaluation and the follow-up exam for all of our procedures. The patients are first seen by Dr. Stelzer our optometrist and then by the surgeon if they are a candidate and are booked for surgery. Once the patient undergoes the procedure, the patient will have to undergo a follow-up exam to ensure the procedure went as expected, and the patient is healing as expected.
