How To Prepare For An Eye Exam at First Eye Care

If it's been a while since you've had an eye exam, or you have never had one before, going to the office may seem intimidating. Fortunately, it doesn't have to be. As long as you come prepared, it should be an easy process. Here are some of the ways you should get ready for your appointment.

Think About Your Vision’s Progression

One of the first things you'll be asked is how well you see and whether you've noticed any specific problems. Give some thought to this before you're in the office. Pay attention to things like blurry vision, double vision, troubles judging distances, difficulty distinguishing red and blue (or other colors), and your family's eye health history. If you have suffered eye injuries, be sure to mention them as well.

Provide All Necessary Information

Make a list of all of your current medications, including non-prescription types, and take it along. If you're getting a dilated eye exam, bring someone to drive you home. Be sure to write down all of the questions you have for the doctor and take that list, too. Also, have your vision insurance information, the name and address of your primary care doctor, and other such basics handy.

One unique thing you should bring to an eye exam is all of your current prescription eyewear if you use any. The office can learn your existing prescription from it as well as other important information.

Consulting Our Eye Doctor in Killeen or Salado

If you're having vision problems, ask about your options for correcting them. Be sure to learn if there are any specific steps you should be taking for your eyes. If you're interested in LASIK or other vision correction surgeries, ask if you're a good candidate. Also, if you're a contact lens wearer, ask for details on using the lenses you are prescribed.

Now that you know how to prepare for your eye exam, there's just one more thing for you to do: Make an appointment. Call us here at First Eye Care at our Killeen or Salado, TX location to schedule a time.
