Dry Eye Assessment

Our in-house dry eye optometrists perform comprehensive testing to help determine the cause of dry eye disease so that your treatment can be guided by clinical science.

During a dry eye assessment, a number of factors are tested including:

  • The quality and quantity of tears produced
  • Tear osmolarity
  • Presence of inflammatory markers
  • The imaging of the eyelid glands
  • A thorough evaluation of the ocular surface

Treatment Options

Based on the results of the testing, treatment can be geared specifically to your needs. Our treatments are highly individualized and can include the use of:

  • In-office procedures like Intense Regulated Pulsed Light (IRPL), eyelid massage or meibomian gland expressions
  • Punctal plugs (tiny biocompatible devices inserted into the tear duct to slow down tear loss)
  • The use of various over-the-counter and/or prescription medications
  • Nutritional and environmental modifications may also be recommended
