Conditions Treated

At Dr. C Vision Care in Pensacola, FL, we provide treatments for a variety of treatments to improve your vision. Whether you need treatment for glaucoma or new contact lenses, our team is happy to help. Before you visit us, learn more about some of the conditions we treat below:

Age-Related Macular Degeneration

Age-related macular degeneration, also known as AMD, causes damage to the macula, which is a part of the retina. In the early stages, you may not experience any symptoms. However, as it progresses, you might experience loss of central vision, blurry vision, and difficulty recognizing faces. Once our optometrists confirm AMD, we may recommend various treatments, such as the following:

•             Dietary supplements

•             Injections

•             Laser treatment

AMD will not cause you to go completely blind, but it can severely impact your vision and affect your quality of life.

Glaucoma

Glaucoma is a disease that affects the optic nerve. It develops when your eyes are not properly draining fluid, which causes it to build and increases eye pressure. Not only that, but if treatment is delayed, glaucoma can also lead to blindness. As with AMD, there are no apparent symptoms in the early stages. In the later stages, it causes blurry vision, eye pain, and halos around lights. Due to this, it’s important to receive regular exams, as they can help detect glaucoma early and allows our doctors to provide prompt treatment.

Cataracts

Cataracts occur when the lenses of the eye become clouded. Along with that, they form when the proteins in the lens break down and lead to blurry or dim vision. While cataracts often happen at age 40 or older, they can also develop earlier in life. Certain risk factors can also increase your chances, including genetics, diabetes, excessive exposure to UV rays, and eye injuries.
