  • Astigmatism
  • Presbyopia

Our doctors will also evaluate your overall eye health and visual function, including but not limited to:

  • Visual acuity
  • Eye tracking
  • Eye coordination
  • Eye alignment
  • Peripheral vision
  • Focusing ability
  • Eye pressure - NO air puffs! :)
  • Anterior structural health
  • Posterior structural health

Retinal Imaging is also recommended as part of your annual eye examination to assist the doctor in documenting and detecting early changes in ocular health.  Earlier detection means more treatment options and better outcomes.  Most insurance plans cover retinal imaging or photography with a small copay.

Blue Light Exposure:

In today’s high-tech world, many of us stare at a computer screen for hours a day. Over time, this can affect our eye health and vision performance. Computer Vision Syndrome symptoms include:

  • Blurry vision
  • Eye strain and discomfort
  • Headaches
  • Dry, scratchy eyes
  • Neck and/or shoulder pain

The doctors at Blue Valley Vision of Overland Park can develop a treatment plan to help relieve your symptoms. This may include specialty eyewear, light vision therapy, or adjusting patient behavior while working with technology.

Children:

It is important to start children with annual eye exams by age 5 in order to improve their educational experience and screen for any potential health issues.  Many functional vision issues go un

detected and can make learning more difficult for a child.  School screenings and regular physician physicals do not monitor for these conditions.

Adults:

Annual examinations are also recommended for adults.  Many ocular and systemic conditions do not have symptoms.  If left untreated, these conditions can have a dramatic effect on overall quality of vision and ultimately overall health.  It is also important to update corrective lenses to minimize eyestrain and maximize visual function.

Contact Fitting:

If you have need for corrective lenses, the doctor will assist you determine whether glasses or contact lenses will work best for your lifestyle.  A extensive corneal health assessment and contact lens fit analysis is necessary for anyone wanting to wear contacts. This additional short exam will allow the doctor to determine the best lenses for your eyes.

Advancements in the field of optometry have produced a broad variety of contact lenses, each with a range of benefits.  Dr. Fose and Dr. Strong are trained to fit and analyze many different types of lenses, including:

  • Rigid gas-permeable
  • Scleral gas-permeable
  • Synergeyes hybrid
  • Multifocals / Bifocals
  • Daily-wear soft
