John L. Burns, OD

Dr. Burns graduated from Widener University with a B.S. in Biology in 1986. He then went on to graduate the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 1989. He joined Eye Design in August of 1997.

He is a member of the Maryland and American Optometric Association. He was elected President of the Maryland Optometric Association in 2012. Dr. Burns was voted ” Optometrist of the Year” by the Maryland Optometric Association in 2013. He was selected the recipient TLC laser eye centers “Dennis Kennedy Excellence in Eye Care” award for 2005!
Eye Design received the 2005 Practice of the year from Dr. Gary Gerbers’ Power Practice, a practice management firm helping optometrists develop their practices. He has since served as a consultant to the Power Practice.
Dr. Burns is a preceptor practice for Salus University’s Pennslyvania College of Optometry , he has worked with interns for over a decade.
Dr. Burns and his wife Sandy have three children and in his spare time he enjoys running and playing golf.
