Do you treat ______ (any diagnosis)?

Dr. Huckaby does not treat any diseases, she works with people. She is interested in You and what you want and think is possible, not a man-made label. Through her own experience and through working with others, she has found that labels do not matter or determine the outcome of anyone's health or life unless they choose to allow it. You determine what you are capable of achieving, so she is only interested in you and your goals, not a label that has been given to you. 

Do you accept insurance?

Grit Natural Medicine is a cash based practice and does not currently accept insurance for our services. We are also unable to bill federal insurance such as Medicare, Medicaid and Tricare. If you are outside of California, your visit is not considered a medical visit and will not have any medical records available. Those will be for education, consultation and recommendations only. 

What do I do if I need to cancel or reschedule my appointment?

Due to high demand and our desire to help as many people as possible, all appointments require 48 hours of weekday notice to cancel or reschedule or a fee will be charged. This gives us a chance to give someone else on the waitlist an opportunity to be seen. Appointments cancelled with less than 48 but more than 24 hours notice will be charged 50% of the price of the scheduled visit with the card on file. Appointments cancelled or rescheduled with less than 24 hours notice or missed appointments with no prior cancellation or rescheduling by the start time of your original appointment (no-shows) are charged full price of the scheduled appointment with no refund or redeemable option. If you miss a visit or cancel with less than 24 hours notice and decide to schedule a visit again, you will have to pay for the new visit in full prior to getting on the schedule. Phone messages, emails or calls after 5 PM on Fridays and through the weekend, or on the eve of a major holiday with an office closure, do not count as part of the 48-hour notice. Cancellations need to go through the appointment team at #­760-979-3724.

Do you treat children?

Dr. Huckaby is currently only taking adults (18+ years of age) as patients. If you are a parent, you can schedule an Information Session to discuss any topic you want more information on. 

Do you do hormone, mycotoxin or specialty lab testing?

Yes. We work with a variety of labs and Dr. Huckaby will determine what is needed on a case by case basis. If you have special interest in a certain lab test, feel free to contact us about it. It is important to note that some lab tests may not be covered by insurance and in these cases, you will be charged a fee for a particular test by the lab. You are under no obligation to purchase any specialty testing and we will make every effort to ensure that you are fully aware of fees prior to ordering any testing. We do our best to offer the most comprehensive and affordable labs available.

Do you prescribe hormones?

Dr. Huckaby reviews each case thoroughly and utilizes whatever tool is most beneficial to your specific case - in almost all cases there is no need to utilize hormone therapy. (Even if a gland or organ is missing - see Patient Cases page for example.)

Do you utilize other pharmaceutical drugs?

Dr. Huckaby does not prescribe any pharmaceutical drugs. 

Do you see patients in person at a physical location?

Dr. Huckaby does not see any patients in person. All telemedicine and telehealth visits are done via a secure virtual clinic. The experience is similar to a FaceTime or Zoom meeting but much more secure. All patients/clients receive the same care regardless of their location due to Dr. Huckaby's unique approach that is focused on freeing you and remind you that you are the only one that can heal you.  

Do you take patients outside of California?

We take clients but not patients. Since Naturopathic Medicine is not currently recognized in all states, we are limited to only providing our telehealth services for individuals outside of California at this time. Telehealth includes lifestyle, mindset and health coaching with diet and supplement recommendations but no diagnosing, prescribing or treating. A huge piece of how Dr. Huckaby approaches wellness is through modalities that you can do on your own without relying on a practitioner, so most find that this doesn't change their experience at all. She is also available for consults, education and to be part of your team if you are currently being managed by other health care providers. Do you take patients outside of the United States?

We take clients but not patients. Supplement or herbal recommendations are tailored to you based on what is available where you live. A huge piece of how Dr. Huckaby approaches wellness is through modalities that you can do on your own without relying on a practitioner, so most find that this doesn't change their experience at all. She is also available for consults, education and to be part of your team if you are currently being managed by other health care providers.
