Eye Disease Care from Our Trusted Arlington Eye Doctor

Arlington Eye exam with eye doctor in arlington

Our Arlington eye doctor at Insight Vision, Dr. Mark Hanson, is able to diagnose and treat a wide range of eye diseases, some of which pose a serious threat to your vision. We can help you and your loved ones with such conditions as:

  • Macular Degeneration - Macular degeneration is an age-related disease that damages the part of the retina known as the macula. Since this area controls central vision, you may eventually find reading, driving and recognizing faces difficult or impossible. Early detection enables us to slow the condition's progress through lifestyle recommendations and a nutritional program called AREDS2. Once the condition becomes advanced, we can administer injectable medications to control the formation of abnormal blood vessels, a factor in vision loss.

  • Cataracts - Cataracts turn the normally transparent lens of the eye opaque. As they develop, you may start experiencing blurred vision, "halos" around lights, glare sensitivity and reduced night/color vision. We can diagnose cataracts and monitor their progress, correcting your vision as needed. If cataract surgery becomes necessary, our optometrist in Arlington can provide pre-operative and post-operative care.

  • Glaucoma - Most glaucoma is associated with high levels of intraocular fluid pressure. The eye is constantly producing a fluid called the aqueous humor, regulating the pressure through a drainage system at the front of the eye. If the drainage is slowed or halted, the rising pressure can permanently damage the optic nerves. Our optometrist in Arlington can reduce your fluid production and/or improve fluid drainage with medications.

  • Dry Eye - Dry eye occurs when the eyes aren't adequately protected by the correct tear film mix of mucous, oils and water. Depending on the underlying cause of your dry eye, we may treat this condition with artificial tears, removal of blockages in the tear glands, changes to your lifestyle and work habits and other helpful remedies.

  • Diabetic Retinopathy - Diabetic retinopathy is the result of blood vessel damage from high blood sugar. It can cause macular edema (swelling), permanent retinal damage and the proliferation of new, weak blood vessels that leak blood into the eye. We can prescribe injectable medications to control complications while also alerting you to your condition so you can seek diabetes treatment.

  • Conjunctivitis - Conjunctivitis, also called pinkeye, is an inflammation of the membrane that covers the inner eyelid and the white of the eye. It can be caused by bacteria, viruses, fungi, allergies or reactions to the proteins that accumulate on contact lenses (giant papillary conjunctivitis). We can pinpoint the cause of your conjunctivitis and provide medications, lifestyle/home care recommendations and other forms of relief.
