Services Techniques

At Acupuncture Wellness Center, we take great pride in providing the finest acupuncture care to each and every patient. We have included information below about the different acupuncture services offered in our Naples acupuncture office; please call us at 239-254-0001 if you have any questions!

 Acupuncture Care

We provide advanced acupuncture treatments utilizing "leading edge" biomedical acupuncture based on the research and treatment protocols of Dr. Yun-Tao Ma, world renowed neurosciientist and acupuncturist.  Never in the history of acupuncture care have acupuncturists been able to provide the level of help and expertise that is available today. Many of the newest biomedical acupuncture treatments are more effective than ever before. As a healthcare professional who cares about utilizing the most advanced biomedical and neurophysiologic research, Acupuncture Physician, Carol McDermott, has years of advanced training, expertise and experience in helping patients get pain relief for sports injuries, back pain, neck pain, headaches, and other related conditions. Acupuncture care under a trained professional can even be used to prevent injuries and help you achieve total health or wellness.

Mind Body Therapy / QiGong for Wellness/ Pain/ Cancer Care

The Mind BodyTherapy/QiGong is a practice that combines simple movements, mental focus, breathing and guided imagery/meditation. As defined in medical qigong textbooks in China "QiGong refers to the skill of mind-body exercises that integrate the adjustments (regulations) of body, breath and mind into One."

Mind/BodyTherapies have several decades of well documented and conclusive data verifying their benefits in chronic pain reduction, stress reduction and improving overall physical and emotional health.

Qi Gong has been added to many nationally known integrative wellness programs including Stanford University and the University of Arizona Medical Center.

At Acupuncture Wellness Center  we teach our patients how to add "Mind/Body Therapy"  into their daily routines, regardless of ability, age, or life circumstances. These therapeutic techniques can actually be performed in the comfort of your own home to help improve the effectiveness of your acupuncture care plan and can help strengthen and correct the irregularities in your body, which may be causing pain.   Mind/BodyTherapy from our experienced staff will help you feel good while also helping your body achieve balance and health.

 Life Style Health

Many of our patients come to see Dr. Carol McDermott to address a specific pain symptom or injury, such as back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain, elbow pain, knee pain or headaches. While Dr. McDermott will address each patient's specific condition with acupuncture care, we often find it helpful to educate our patients regarding a healthier lifestyle. For example, there may be certain activities that you should avoid or do differently to prevent you from unintentionally aggravating your particular health challenges. The goal of including "lifestyle suggestions" or modifications" with an acupuncture care plan is to help each and every patient achieve the fulfilling and happy lifestyle they deserve, one that is full of the activities that are enjoyed most. We recognize that every single one of our patients is a whole person, and we use our expertise to help them reach total health and wellness.

 Nutritional Counseling

What does nutrition have to do with acupuncture care? The goal of acupuncture care is to help patients achieve total health and balance with their body, and as part of that goal we provide specific recommendations on nutritional supplements and healthy food choices. Nutritional counseling by our experienced licensed professional nutritionist, George Miller, can assist our patients on their return to optimal health. Do you know which food supplements and vitamins are good for you? Do you know how these food supplements and vitamins interact with one another? At our Naples Acupuncture Wellness Center, we can provide each patient with a structured nutritional program that is based on his or her individual needs.

 Acupuncture / Tui Na

Many of our patients come to our Acupuncture Wellness Center to address a specific pain symptom or injury, such as back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain, elbow pain, knee pain or headaches. While our acupuncture physician will address each patient's specific condition with acupuncture care, we often find it helpful to incorporate massage therapy into an overall treatment plan.

Research continues to show the enormous benefits of touch-which range from treating chronic diseases, neurological disorders, and injuries, to alleviating the tensions of modern lifestyles.

Getting a massage can do you a world of good. Taking part in this form of regularly scheduled self-care can play a huge part in how healthy you'll be and how youthful you'll remain with each passing year. Budgeting time and money for a wellness plan is truly an investment in your health. And remember: just because massage feels like a pampering treat doesn't mean it is any less therapeutic. Consider massage appointments a necessary piece of your health and wellness plan, and work with your practitioner to establish a treatment schedule that best meets your needs.
