Cosmetic Crowns & Veneers

Dental Crowns Are a Great Solution for Bad Teeth

Unlike beavers, our teeth are not armored with a coat of iron. We need to preserve our precious gems with twice-daily brushing, once-daily flossing, and regular visits to the dentist. But the longer we live, the greater the chance we'll need crowns. Most of us past fifty have at least one dental crown, and younger people often need crowns too for irregular or discolored teeth.

This is when we need help from someone like Dr. Kellye Rice, a dentist in Brentwood, Tennessee at Cool Springs Laser Dentistry.

What Should You Expect From a Brentwood Dentist

In our tranquil reception area, you can enjoy coffee or juice. To allay your fears, we’ll answer all your questions. Then, if you wish, make yourself comfortable under a blanket, listen to soothing headphone music, and float away beneath a balm of laughing gas (nitrous oxide) as we restore your teeth. Or we can simply numb your teeth and gums before we remove old restorations or decay, fill any cavities, and prepare your teeth to be fitted with crowns. After an impression is made, we’ll fit you with temporary crowns. These are removed on your next visit, and then your permanent crowns are fitted and cemented in place.

We Offer a Wide Choice of Crowns

• Metal alloy: Alloys with a high content of gold, platinum, or base metal. These can last a lifetime and seldom chip or break. Of course, metal is best placed on back molars where it’s out of sight and out of mind.

• Porcelain-fused-to-metal: The next best thing to all-ceramic crowns for an aesthetic appearance. However, the metal sometimes shows at the gum line, and they tend to wear down opposing teeth more than metal or resin crowns.

• All-ceramic or all-porcelain: The best choice for matching the appearance of natural teeth. Zirconium, in particular, offers great strength in addition to providing a pleasing, natural color.

All-resin: The most affordable way to improve the appearance of the front teeth, and they don't wear down opposing teeth. However, they wear the fastest and are subject to breaking.

• Stainless steel: Usually temporary.

Crowns may last twenty years or longer, which is three times longer than fillings last. If there is no root or not enough tooth, crowns can be attached to implants.
