Pediatric Eye Exams

Identifying vision problems is essential before these problems impact learning. One out of every four school-aged children has a vision problem and 60 percent of children who are “problem learners” have undetected vision trouble. To head off potential learning-related vision problems, our eye doctor recommends that children have a comprehensive eye exam prior to each school year.

Senior Eye Exams

As we age, we are at increased risk for age-related health problems, including cataracts, macular degeneration and glaucoma. Cataracts are the most common cause of vision loss in individuals aged 40 and older and the principle cause of blindness in the world. Cataracts are a degenerative condition in which the normally clear lens in your eye becomes clouded. The good news is that when detected early, surgery is a successful treatment options. Our eye doctors screen for cataracts, glaucoma and macular degeneration. The earlier these eye conditions are detected, the more we can do to treat and correct them.

Contact Lens Eye Exams & Hard-to-Fit Contacts

We offer contact lens eye exams including prescriptions for hard-to-fit contacts. Astigmatism, dry eyes, presbyopia and keratoconus can make it harder to fit contacts. The good news is that there are effective solutions for these vision conditions, including gas permeable lenses, toric lenses, and bifocal and multifocal lenses. Medicated eye drops can also be an effective solution for dealing with dry eyes.

Sunglasses

We get a lot of sun here in Las Vegas, and it’s important to keep your eyes protected from it! Just as we protect our skin from UV rays with sunscreen, we also need to protect our eyes from UV rays with sunglasses. The cornea absorbs nearly all of the UV light that enters the eye from sunlight. Studies link UV radiation to an increased risk for eye cancer, cornea burns and abnormal tissue growth. Our eye doctor can help you select the right sunglasses to protect your vision, including prescription sunglasses.

LASIK Surgery

Laser assisted in situ keratomileusis (LASIK), is a popular surgery for correcting nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. This surgical procedure uses a laser to correct vision. We provide pre- and post-operative care for LASIK surgery, including post-operative eye exams to confirm vision correction. Most patients are good candidates for LASIK surgery, which is safe and effective.
