Background
Dr. Julie Arcemont is originally from San Diego, but moved to Las Vegas following graduation from the Southern California College of Optometry in 1997. While she temporarily moved to other states (CA, LA, FL) for her husband’s job from 2000-2006, she is thrilled to be back in Las Vegas and is truly dedicated to serving Nevadans and our wonderful community.
For the past 20 years, Dr. Arcemont has worked with patients of all ages, helping them optimize their vision and their quality of life. She has worked with primary care, ocular disease, contact lenses, pediatrics, geriatrics, and low vision patients. She is an active member of the Nevada Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association and is very involved in the Las Vegas community.
Dr. Arcemont was born and raised in La Jolla, California and attended UC Davis where she majored in Psychology from 1990-1993. She applied for early admission and was accepted to the Southern California College of Optometry in Fullerton, CA where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Ocular Science (1995) and her Doctorate of Optometry (1997). She served in several leadership roles while in school and received many awards of excellence for both academic and clinical achievements.
Dr. Arcemont served clinical rotations in low vision at the Center for Partially Sighted in Santa Monica, CA, Ocular Disease at the VA hospital in Albuquerque, NM, and primary care optometry at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, NV. She has worked in both private practice, HMO, and corporate eye care settings. These clinical experiences gave her a broad knowledge of optometry and the ability to treat challenging ocular conditions with experience and confidence.
Dr. Arcemont happily joined Mallinger Family Eye Care in 2008 and truly enjoys every aspect of this friendly, personalized practice. She and Dr. Mallinger take pride in providing thorough eye exams using the most advanced technology available to us today. She feels confident treating many ocular conditions (such as pink eye, corneal abrasions, etc.), fitting hard, soft, multifocal, and toric contact lenses, and evaluating patients for diseases such as glaucoma, macular degeneration and cataracts. She will thoroughly explain your options for glasses, contact lenses, or laser vision correction and will help you reach your best possible visual outcome.
When not practicing optometry, Dr. Arcemont is very active in the Las Vegas community. She is a current member of the West Charleston Lions Club and has volunteered for several mission trips to South America and Mexico to help provide glasses to the underprivileged people who need them. She has participated in many school and community vision screenings and has regularly volunteered her time at Eye Care 4 Kids, providing eye exams for needy children. She is a member of the Young Men’s Service League with her 2 sons and hopes this will teach them the value of volunteering and giving back. She has been happily married since 2000 and loves to travel, cook, play the piano and volunteer in the Las Vegas community.
