Treatments
- Treatment consists of pain medications and activity modifications
- There is no specific cure for concussion. Rest and restricting activities allow the brain to recover. This means one should temporarily reduce sports, video games, TV, or too much socializing.
- Medications for headache pain, or odansetron or other anti-nausea medications can be used for symptoms.
- Medications
- Analgesic: Relieves pain. Acetaminophen (Tylenol)
- Self-care
- Rest: Reducing activity for a short period of time following an injury to promote healing.
- Therapies Rehabilitation: Retraining the brain's pathways to improve mental and physical functioning after an illness or injury. For example, after a blow to the head (concussion).
