CLEAR LENS EXTRACTION FOR THE CORRECTION OF FARSIGHTEDNESS
Dr. Salz has recently published 2 book chapters on the correction of high amounts of farsightedness by removing the patient’s natural lens and replacing it with a stronger lens calculated to correct their vision. This technique is identical to the technique to remove cataracts that is performed in the US approximately 1 million times per year and has proved to be one of the safest surgical procedures ever developed. In clear lens extraction, a small 3.0 mm. incision is made into the eye, the natural lens of the eye is removed by breaking it up ultrasonically and aspirating it. Then, a flexible implant of the proper power is placed inside the eye through this same small incision. Patients usually experience a dramatic improvement in their vision the next day.
