COVID-19

UPDATE:

We have returned to providing routine eye care for all patients.  We will continue to maintain a safe environment for patients, staff, and doctors by following CDC guidelines and KS State Board of Examiners in Optometry recommendations.  We are still offering curbside pick-up for those who currently have items on order.  We have also modified our patient schedule to allow more time for cleaning and disinfecting procedures.   To make this new normal as efficient and effective as possible, we need the help of our patients and their families.  If you have an appointment with us, you can help us adjust to this new normal by the following:

  • Get all insurance information updated and confirmed with the staff 24 HOURS PRIOR to your arrival
  • We now have HIPAA-compliant forms that can be completed prior to your arrival; please opt-in for text messaging to receive a link to this health questionnaire.  You can also access the questionnaire here
  • Leave friends and family members at home or have them wait in the car; we must continue to limit the amount of people in the office
  • Wear a mask and wash your hands

Our second location is up and running!  Both Dr. Fose and Dr. Strong, along with Dr. Lauren Sowash, have availability at this new location.  Call to reserve your appointment today!

We will be returning to routine eye care starting May 18th.  We will continue to maintain a safe environment for patients, staff, and doctors by following CDC guidelines and KS Optometric Association recommendations.

  • New patients, complete ALL paperwork at home before you arrive for your appointment
  • Leave friends and family members at home or have them wait in the car; we must continue to limit the amount of people in the office
  • Wear a mask and wash your hands

We apologize for the current lack of appointment availability; we have many patients that could not be seen over the last 2 months, in addition to new cleaning and disinfecting guidelines making our time for each patient significantly longer.  However, I have good news!  We are opening a second location to help offset this demand.  Both Dr. Fose and Dr. Strong, along with Dr. Ken Bono, will be seeing patients at this new location starting in June so call to reserve your appointment today!

Introducing our second location (open June 2020)

Can't wait to see you all soon!

Sincerely,

The doctors and staff at Blue Valley Vision of Overland Park

To all of our patients and families,

In accordance with the Stay-At-Home order issued this weekend, Dr. Fose, Dr. Strong, and the staff want you to know that we will continue to be here for you. We are making some major changes to protect our patients, staff, doctors, and community. We are temporarily suspending all routine eye care per the KS Optometric Association recommendations and CDC guidelines. We will continue helping with urgent and emergent eye care needs as well as getting your product orders to you in the safest way possible. We can be reached by phone, text, and email Monday through Friday from 10 AM to 3 PM. Patients can reach the on-call doctor for medical emergencies at any time. If we all do the right things and keep the bigger picture in mind, we will be a stronger, better community as we get through this together.

Routine Eye Care - Currently, we are postponing routine exams until May 1st which is subject to change. Please call or text the office to schedule or to be added to our first available list.

Emergency Eyecare - If you are experiencing an eye infection, flashes of light, new/changing floaters, eye pain or discomfort, sudden vision loss, or post operative pain, please reach out to us! Our doctors are on call and available to handle your eye care needs. Please avoid going to urgent care or the emergency room for your eyes, our optometrists are trying to take the burden off of those healthcare providers so they can use their resources to battle this pandemic.

Post-Operative Patients - We will continue your post-operative care. Please call or text the office to determine the best means of care.

Contact Lens Patients - Try to remove your contact lenses every night, even if you have been told they are safe to sleep in. This may be the one time you get an eye infection from this, Murphy's law is a cruel master. If you are running low on contact lenses, we want to help, after all, you can't watch Netflix without your lenses! We are extending contact lens prescriptions to help our patients during this challenging time. Please call or text our office and we will ship your contacts directly to your house.

Eye Medications - If possible, all medication refills will be renewed to ensure the continued treatment of your eye disease. We will reestablish follow up care after this crisis is resolved.

Glasses or contacts to pick up - We are offering curbside glasses and contact lens pick up at this time for those of you who currently have items on order. Simply call or text us from your car and we will bring your glasses and/or contacts to you.

We appreciate your patience and understanding in helping keep you and our community safe. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience and are committed to meeting your eye care needs during this unprecedented time. We appreciate you putting your trust in us and look forward to seeing you all soon.

All the best,

Dr. Fose, Dr. Strong, and our Blue Valley Vision staff
