HOW THE “7 WILD-HARVESTED SEA VEGETABLES” AFFECT WEIGHT LOSS
A lot of you have probably heard the term “nutrient density,” but you may not really know what it means. Nutrients in our food fall into two categories: macronutrients – which refer to the three main food substances found in large amounts in the human diet, like protein, carbohydrates and fats. And micronutrients – which are things like vitamins, minerals and other compounds required by the body in small amounts for normal body function. We need both to stay healthy and function properly.
The term nutrient density refers to the concentration of micronutrients and amino acids in a given food. This is important, because the human body requires about 40 different micronutrients for normal metabolic function.
According to Dr. Mark Hyman, a physician and international leader in the field of Functional Medicine, nutritional imbalances are often a hidden cause for weight loss resistance. After reviewing nutritional research for 40 years and doing nutritional testing with over 10,000 patients, he has concluded that Americans suffer from massive nutritional deficiencies.
Simply put, Americans have been overfed and undernourished for a very long time. In fact, most obese children and adults are actually malnourished. This may sound contradictory; however, eating an overabundance of calories does not necessarily provide us with the right nutrients our bodies need.
In fact, the very opposite is true. Overeating can actually create nutrient deficiencies. It’s very possible to eat far too many calories and far too few nutrients. What’s even worse, is that you need vitamins and minerals to process all the empty calories in the American diet, and low nutrients correspond to a poorly functioning metabolism.
How does this happen? For one, food today is less nutritious than it used to be, but another issue is that we don’t eat enough whole, unprocessed, nutrient-dense foods. We eat too much high-fructose corn syrup, refined flours, refined inflammatory vegetable oils and trans fats along with overall fake, junky processed foods. We may like the taste, but they come with a big price tag.
The food products created by these substances crowd out healthier choices while creating nutritional deficiencies. These low-fiber, highly processed foods combined with toxins not only create numerous gut problems, but they also interfere with the absorption of our nutrients. Those nutrients are absorbed in the gut, and a damaged gut doesn’t absorb nutrition well.
It’s important to have a whole-food diet and nutrient-based supplementation to help us reset our metabolism and balance our body chemistry. The correct amount of nutrients can also help you burn fat, balance blood sugar, stabilize hormones and build and maintain muscle mass.
This is essentially the foundation of your Genesis Health Solutions weight loss program. Not only do we remove the nutrient deficient food products that are destroying your health, but we have also designed your plan with nutrient density in mind.
In part II, we will explain why we need our plant-based super food harvested from the purest and coldest waters of Canada, Newfoundland and Iceland (7 Wild-Harvested Sea Vegetables), to keep us from nutrient deficiency.
