ULTIMATE CLEANSE – WHY WE NEED IT Part II

Burdock root is a great plant in your Ultimate Cleanse that has been widely used for thousands of years throughout Asia and Europe. However, it is actually considered a weed in the US! You may have seen it’s heart-shaped leaves with a purple flower on top of a burr-like ball that easily sticks to your pets and clothing when you’re walking in an open field or along the roadside in ditches.

Burdock root is loaded with antioxidants and was used in European folk medicine as a diuretic and a support for digestion and elimination, thereby helping to rid the body of accumulated waste.

Burdock root has also been shown to help diabetes by lowering blood sugar and decreasing the severity of diabetic retinopathy. 

It is also known for its significant ability to reduce inflammation in helping with osteoarthritis. There are many other properties of burdock root, as well, so we are so happy to have it as a part of our Ultimate Cleanse.

Dandelion is in the same family as burdock, so it carries a lot of the same properties. Dandelion is actually high in fiber and vitamins A and C, and it is a great source of vitamin K which, along with its calcium content, makes it great in promoting strong bone health.

In India, Russia and China, dandelion has long been used as a liver tonic, and Korean studies have shown its ability to protect the liver from damage caused by alcohol. It also contains great antibacterial and antiviral properties and has been shown to be effective against staph infections and bacteria that cause food poisoning.

Moreover, one of the greatest properties of dandelion root is the high level of antioxidants it contains, which fight and neutralize free radicals. Free radicals accumulate over time and lead to cell damage and chronic disease. This is probably the main reason dandelion is so effective overall.

Finally, the last plant property found in your Ultimate Cleanse, is yellow dock. You may have heard that there are things called “bitter herbs” or “digestive herbs” that are used to aid in digestion and help with nutrient absorption. Yellow dock is one of those bitter herbs.

The greatest benefit of yellow dock, however, is its ability to stimulate the liver for detoxification. It helps to get rid of toxins, waste products and excess hormones. It also helps to balance hormones by helping to eliminate excess estrogen.

Properties within yellow dock also help stimulate peristalsis of the intestines to aid with constipation, without creating dependency. It also helps to support a healthy microbiome (gut bacteria). We’ve all heard of probiotics and how they help replenish healthy bacteria in the bowel, but prebiotics are also important, as they are food for the probiotics/bacteria.
