    Dr. Hieu Vu-Gia grew up in Connecticut and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from New York University in New York City. Pursuing an interest in optometry led him to the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia where he earned his Doctor of Optometry. After graduation, Dr. Vu-Gia moved to the Washington, DC, metropolitan area and has been in practice here since 1996. He currently resides in Northern Virginia with his wife, two children and the family dogs, Max and Sassy.

    Dr. Robert M. Allen was raised in Northern Virginia. After high school he graduated from the University of Richmond. Following a successful and involved college career he eventually pursued his interest in medicine and eye care at the prestigious Pennsylvania College of Optometry, earning Bachelor of Science and Doctoral degrees. Upon graduation he returned to Northern Virginia and began his career in private practice with the purchase of a small office in Chantilly. That was followed a year later when he started Ashburn Eyecare Associates, one of the largest practices in Loudoun County. Not long afterwards he became a founding partner of Associates in Eyecare, which has five offices in Northern Virginia and two in Washington, DC. Dr. Allen has continuously dedicated himself to professional development and is deeply committed to patient care and satisfaction.

Growing up in Maryland, Dr. Teser graduated Suma Cum Laude from Salisbury University in 1999. In 2003, Dr. Teser completed optometry school at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia. Upon graduation, she was selected for a yearlong residency with an emphasis in the diagnosis and management of ocular disease.

After working for a year as a chemical analyst for a pharmaceutical company, Dr. Jaffe decided to pursue her lifelong dream of becoming an optometrist. She attended the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University where she earned her Doctor of Optometry degree. While at Salus University, Dr. Jaffe was an active member of the Student Optometric Services to Humanity, traveling to Haiti to provide optometric exams to those in need.

She received several scholarships for high academic achievement, was acknowledged for excellence in Contact Lens Fitting, and was awarded clinical honors in both Primary Care and Low Vision Rehabilitation. Prior to attending Buffalo State University, she received her A.A.S. in Ophthalmic Dispensing, which gives Dr. Joedicke extensive knowledge base of fitting and adjusting lenses, frames and contact lenses.

    Dr. Jones graduated with honors from optometry school as a member of the international optometric society, Beta Sigma Kappa.   After optometry school in 2014, she moved to Chicago, IL to pursue a combined residency in ocular disease and low vision at the Jesse Brown VA medical center and the Edward Hines Jr. Veterans Administration Hospital.  It was here that she gained knowledge and a true passion for the management and treatment of various ocular conditions.  After residency she successfully completed the Advanced Competency in Medical Optometry exam.  Dr. Jones has practiced primary eye care in the DMV area since 2015.  Being a former competitive gymnast, Dr. Jones enjoys being active in all kinds of exercise including hiking, running, biking and playing pickle ball.  She loves traveling and spending time with her family.

While at Ohio State, Dr. Kuchem served as president of the College of Optometry’s chapter of Student Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity and led mission trips providing optometric services to Guatemala and Nicaragua. She was elected to the Beta Sigma Kappa Honor society, received several awards and scholarships for her research and patient care, and received the prestigious Graduate of the Year Award.

    Dr. Martin graduated optometry school at the top of her class and was a member of the distinguished Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Society during all four years of her education at Indiana University.  Upon graduation, she spent time practicing in Champaign, IL, Omaha, NE, and Lincoln, NE.  Dr. Martin loves primary eye care and providing outstanding service to her patients.  She is experienced in contact lens fitting, pediatrics, ocular disease management, and co-management of cataract and refractive eye surgeries.  Dr. Martin moved to the Washington DC area in 2015 and enjoys spending her free time traveling, crafting, practicing yoga, and being a tourist in her new city.

    Dr. Martin is currently on maternity leave caring for her twin sons who were born in July.  She will be back in the office this fall.
