Symptoms and Conditions that Require Vision Therapy as Treatment

Vision problems affect all aspects of everyday life. Poor performance in school may be an indication that your child has a vision problem. At The Vision Learning Center of Champions in Spring, TX, we provide vision therapy to resolve vision difficulties. Our behavioral optometrist, Dr. A. Davis, and our entire eye care team care about your family's eye health. We want to enhance your learning and lifestyle with improved vision.

Improving the Eye-Brain Connection

Your vision acuity may measure 20/20 in each eye, but if your eyes aren't working together and in conjunction with your brain, you may not be seeing clearly. During Neuro-Visual Therapeutic (NVT) Programs, the participant completes exercises, games, and puzzles, all which are planned to help develop and improve visual skills. Patients can start NVT treatment at any age and change can be seen at all ages due to neuroplasticity.

Vision therapy treatment is not focused on strengthening eye muscles. Communication between the eye and the brain determines how the brain interprets what the eye sees and does. With practice, the viewer learns how to interpret visual clues to help with depth perception, visual memory, and visual-auditory integration.

Visual Therapy Helps Students Overcome Certain Reading Issues

At first, your child's issue might appear to be a reading comprehension problem. If a student has trouble reading every line, that will result in difficulties understanding a story or paragraph. If you notice your child displaying other issues, such as double vision, bring your child in for a vision therapy evaluation exam. NVT programs differ for each person and are developed by Dr. Davis based on age, cognitive abilities and needs. Dr. Davis's passions include pediatric eye care and special needs optometry. Dr. A. Davis will make your child feel comfortable and welcome. Turn your frustrated reader into a reading champion.
