Vision Therapy Evaluation

Vision Therapy Evaluation with an Optometrist in Spring, TX

The Vision Learning Center of Champions in Spring, TX, works with many patients who need vision therapy. Our vision therapist in Spring understands that the needs and goals of each patient are unique. If you are considering vision therapy, here's what you can expect during your evaluation.

.

Initial Vision Examination

First, the therapist will evaluate the external and internal health of each eye. The therapist will test your color vision, visual field, eye tracking, focusing, depth perception, and eye-teaming ability. This will help the therapist understand your eye health and begin developing a reasonable plan.

Neuro-Visual Testing

Neuro-visual testing determines how your visual system processes information. This test involves several different parts. Several components will be tested, including:

  • Visual Perceptual Skills: Your ability to determine differences and similarities in orientations and sizes.
  • Visual Laterality and Directionality: Your ability to understand left from right and up from down.
  • Visual Memory: Your ability to remember what you have seen.
  • Visual Sequential Memory: Your ability to remember a series of steps or numbers in order.
  • Visual Motor Integration: Your ability to analyze visuals and reproduce them on paper.
  • Spatial and Phonological Awareness Skills: Your ability to understand a position in space and the relationship between words and sounds.
  • Silent Word Reading Fluency: Your ability to read words accurately, automatically, and with speed and comprehension.
  • Word Reading Efficiency: Your ability to read real and nonsense words accurately and quickly.
  • Readalyzer Testing: Your eye movements while reading.

Discuss Your Testing and Results

At the end of testing, your vision therapist will compile a comprehensive report with all the information. You will have a conference to discuss a plan to treat any vision or eye health issues that seem apparent.

Testing Is Easier Than You Think

When you come in for your vision therapy evaluation, it's important to remember that nothing is painful or invasive. You don't need any special equipment. The therapist will use a light projector, eye chart, and various other tools to test your vision in different ways.
