What to Expect during an Eye Exam

During an eye exam, our optometrist will check your vision and make sure you can see as well as you should be able to. If your vision isn't 20/20 or close to it, you may need corrective lenses, such as glasses or contacts. We will determine your prescription and help you choose your eyewear. There are also health conditions that could affect your vision, and it's important to determine if there are underlying causes that are making your vision blurry, causing it to darken, or otherwise becoming a problem for you. If something's going wrong, prompt treatment is the right choice.

Vision Testing

Most people only think about their vision when they consider eye health, but whether or not your eyes are healthy is about more than just how well you see things. Even if your vision is good now, there could be problems that will cause your vision to worsen later in life. Having high eye pressure, for example, can put you at risk for glaucoma. That can cause blindness if it's not treated. Our eye doctor will be sure to test you for eye conditions and provide early treatment to preserve your vision.

Eye Health and Functioning

Eye health is measured in several ways. Vision is part of that, but there are also tests that check the pressure in your eyes, and that look at the back of them to see if there are issues developing. Dr. Murrell also looks at your eye functioning, which includes depth perception, eye teaming, and more. All of these aspects work together and are important for eye health and proper vision.
