Dr. Tommy Lucas

Dr. Thomas A. Lucas, Jr. attended the University of Houston College of Optometry, earning the Doctor of Optometry degree in 2006. He completed undergraduate studies at Baylor University where he obtained the Bachelor of Science degree, with a major in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. Originally from Houston, Texas, Dr. Lucas is now proud to call Central Texas home.

Dr. Lucas is licensed by the Texas Optometry Board as an Optometric Glaucoma Specialist, the highest level of optometry licensing in Texas. He takes pride in the rigorous quality standards at First Eye Care Killeen and First Eye Care Salado. Caring for his patients’ eye health and vision is his highest professional priority. He also has special professional interests including health care policy, eye care advocacy, public eye care awareness, health information technology, emerging diagnostic and treatment options, and eye disease prevention.

Dr. Lucas is a member of the American Optometric Association (AOA), the Texas Optometric Association (TOA) and the Heart of Texas Optometric Society (HTOS). He is a past-president of both HTOS and TOA, and he continues to serve his profession as the Chair of the TOA Legislative Center. Dr. Lucas is also serves on the advisory board of the public awareness campaign Think About Your Eyes.

Dr. Lucas was honored to be named by his colleagues the 2011 Texas Young Optometrist of the Year and the 2014 Texas Optometrist of the Year.
