Orthokeratology

Could You Benefit From Orthokeratology (Ortho-K)?

Here at Eastgate Optometry Care, we understand the importance of healthy eyes and vision. That is why we are proud to offer a treatment known as Orthokeratology (Ortho-K) that helps patients suffering from myopia. Myopia, or nearsightedness as it is often called, can be treated with this nonsurgical treatment that will actively alter the contour of your corneas. This treatment is also called refractive therapy or vision shaping by some professionals.

Are You a Candidate for Corneal Reshaping?

Corneal reshaping is fast becoming one of the most popular solutions for patients suffering from both near and farsightedness. A considerable amount of research has also shown that this treatment is capable of slowing the progression of myopia, and improving the vision of patients. The procedure is safe for the vast majority of children and adults, but you may not be a candidate if you suffer from any of the conditions below.

  • Severe near or farsightedness
  • Large pupils
  • Dry eye syndrome

Our optometrist can help you decide whether or not you are a good candidate for corneal reshaping.

The Process

At the beginning of the process, our optometrist will provide you with specially designed contact lenses. These lenses can only be worn at nighttime, and as time progresses, your vision will gradually improve. It is NOT advisable to skip nights because the treatment is a molding process and when you skip nights it allows the eyes to lose its shape and efficacy.

See the World Around You Differently

Orthokeratology (Ortho-K) can help correct your vision, and allow you to see the beauty around you during the daytime perfectly – without the aid of glasses or corrective contacts. Eastgate Optometry Care can provide you with this procedure in a safe and patient-centered environment. If you are ready to learn more, call our office at (714) 373-2020 or simply fill out this online contact form if you are pressed for time.
